the cd isn't required to play the game, it's all backed up on anet's servers. when you load it up, you log in and play from what anet has stored. in other words, you can play on as many computers as you want worry free.

Keep in mind that while you may play using a different computer, you can not have more than two logged into the same account.

So if you are attempted to account share with a friend, and Anet notices you can not have logged onto two different locations in a very short period period of time they will ban that account.

The campaign is kinda like the start point, you can choose one of the 3 to start, if you make a Nightfall char for example, you can go to prophecies and faction with that same char later in the campaign.

I suggest to start on prophecies then factions then nightfall, that is the chronological order of the campaigns, but if you are looking for finishing all the campaigns as fast as you can, then start in nightfall to get the heroes then finish the rest in any order.

It is just like WoW in the sense that you get the original game from almost 7 years ago...Now you are downloading all the different map changes and additions into the .dat file. So yes you need to download everything. I suggest going to wiki and looking into the command line stuff and using -image

I would suggest you create at least 2-3 characters and try out each campaign, they all offer certain unique features at start:

Prophecies: Lots of free skill quests, it's a good thing to do which allow you to make more versatile builds along the way. This is the original and biggest campaign, leveling here is rather slow. Pre-Searing is a unique starting place, don't leave until you're at least level 7-8, or it will be a rough time ahead.
Factions: Beautiful scenery, plenty of high-reward quests, easy mobs. You will level rather quickly here. Fair amount of free skills as well.
Nightfall: Good xp from bounties allowing you to level quickly. Early access to heroes (customizable henchmen). You will reach Kamadan very quickly which is one of the game's big hub cities (especially in American districts). Most of them are probably there to trade but it still is a nice change from other campaign's many empty districts.

Edit: Regarding downloading, Songbringer brought up a good point. Create a shortcut to gw.exe (ie. C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe) and add the -image switch. Something like this: "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe" -image
This will NOT start the game, it will only download all the game data needed to play. This is a huge amount so consider leaving it download for a few hours or over night depending on your connection. To later play the game, just start the game through one of the original shortcuts that was created, or remove the -image part.

Just depends how long you play each day, if you do every quest, etc. I'd guesstimate 1 - 2 months per campaign.

I took about 3~4 months playing 2 hours per day to finish all the campaigns + reach 30/50 in the HoM from scratch (just like you are doing) and w/o help of other players (just in a couple of missions in a pug)

You can install GW's on any comp, I installed on a lappy while I was on holiday in Canada, the updating could be a pain, I complained to the hotel staff lol but the updating is pretty slow and I moaned for no reason

You're login details are all that matter tbh!

Ps. Welcome to GW's look me up if you want, I don't play much my ign is Avira Hekate feel free to add, I'll prolly annoy you by giving you freebies

I searched on wiki, forum etc but couldnt get best answer... i see in the top is monk with mending touch if i am not wrong.

Every one who want to add me my ingame name Sillent Hunterz

Edit: instead to download all again on my computer can i copy on hard disc GW and copy in computer?

I'm also a ranger like you and that is my main and first char, I love it and I'll make a ranger in GW2 too.
Rangers have many options, I like to play as R/P and spread conditions with a pet (in this case marksmanship is totally useless), but that is far from meta, most use the ranger meta builds from PvX specially this one.

Markmanship is best if you want to use a bow. You can utilize your primary attribute in order to spam expensive dagger or scytheattacks. But bowrangers are standard, yes.

/Mo is most popular due to mending touch yes, it's a good all around skill. But you can go for /Me (blackout) /N (render enchantments) or any secondary profession really, it's about finding a specific skill to enhance your build more than a secondary profession to enhance your primary.

Also best to bear in mind that you don't have to use your PVE toon in PVP, you can create a max level, max armor, max wep toon specifically for PVP, and would be advised to do so, since the runes/mods/weps are free and it gives you a chance to play around with build options.

Also, I know you probably realise this already, but attribute points can be changed at will, so respeccing a toon for another build is easy.

I played Ranger and i like it... but now i would like to try a healer as i have always played healer in every game... so i have some basic questions about that:

1. Is for healer hard to play solo?

2. I guess healer is welcome in every party?

3. Can u recommend me good pure healer?

Is Monk healer similar as paladin healer?
